Job summary

Avalara is seeking an Enterprise AI Capability Program Lead to own and scale the organization’s AI capability program. You’ll guide managers and leaders from AI awareness to structured experimentation, shaping how work is redesigned around human-AI collaboration.

You will teach, coach, and mentor across functions globally, building tools and measurement to prove value and drive adoption at scale. This role is remote within the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, organization development, human resources, industrial-organizational psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years designing and delivering enterprise capability-building or reskilling programs at scale.
• Solid grounding in organizational design with ability to build credible tools and coach leaders.
• Deep fluency in generative and agentic AI with hands-on experience applying AI tools.
• Strong judgment connecting org design, AI capability, and workflow optimization.
• Comfort working with data and measurement to demonstrate value of capability-building programs.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the multi-stage capability program from AI awareness to structured experimentation.
• Teach, coach, and mentor managers and functional leaders across functions globally.
• Build reusable tools, templates, and frameworks for roles, AI suitability, and redesign.
• Translate complex AI concepts into accessible content for a management audience.
• Create mechanisms for surfacing use cases and an AI champions network.
• Own measurement of program impact via speed, quality, and value-shift metrics.
• Expand program to a full employee-wide reskilling agenda.
• Drive long-term continuous improvement of the capability program and manager effectiveness.
• Report to senior leadership on how the organization works smarter because of the program.
