Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a supervisor to guide Engineering Technicians in inspection, testing, and plant operations across central mix and aggregate materials. You will coordinate field activities, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards on project sites.

You will oversee laboratory testing, review results, and maintain documentation while promoting safe work practices and effective teamwork on multiple projects in the region.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret rules, test methods, and specifications.
• Experience supervising technician staff and coordinating field inspections.
• Knowledge of materials testing, QA/QC practices, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Engineering Technicians in inspection, testing, and placing materials.
• Coordinate and supervise activities of subordinate staff to ensure quality and safety.
• Provide technical support and guidance on testing procedures and plant operations.
• Plan and coordinate field inspections, sampling, and laboratory tests.
• Maintain project records and ensure compliance with directives and safety policies.
