Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia Careers is seeking a detail-oriented engineer/technician to manage the Materials Documentation Program, ensuring materials meet VDOT standards and FHWA requirements. Qualifications

• Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and maintain data.
• Ability to interpret plans, drawings, manuals, and VDOT specifications.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply statistical concepts in sampling and testing of materials.
• Ability to prepare or review technical reports.
• Ability to work independently, in teams, including industry and management.
• Considerable knowledge of highway construction and maintenance materials.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Materials Documentation Program to ensure materials meet VDOT specs and standards.
• Provide technical support to assigned engineering program.
• Ensure compliance with CDs, environmental safety, OSHA and VDOT safety policies.
• Provide engineering technology solutions to complex cases and projects.
• Maintain records and update project data and files.
• Coordinate Pre-Construction meetings and review materials source documentation.
• Support inspectors, contractors, and project teams with materials acceptance and audits.
