Job description

The Scheduling Engineer will be responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining project schedules to ensure timely completion of construction projects. Incumbent shall work closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to establish project timelines, track progress, identify delays, and implement corrective actions. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, project management principles, and scheduling software. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.


Construction Administration / Management



  • Significant experience with construction project management software and tools

  • Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts

  • In depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations

  • Highly proficient in Scheduling Software: Expertise in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other relevant scheduling tools

  • Critical Path Method (CPM): Strong understanding of CPM for effective project scheduling and management

  • Earned Value Management (EVM): Functional experience with EVM to track project progress, update schedules accordingly, and report deviations from the plan.

  • Construction Project Management Software: Familiarity with tools like Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, Aconex, or similar platforms.

  • Ability to analyze project data and generate insightful reports

  • Highly proficient in resource leveling and allocation to optimize project schedules

  • Highly experienced in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating scheduling risks

  • Knowledge of cost control techniques and integration with project schedules

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and schedule analysis

  • Functional use and experience with database management systems for project data storage and retrieval, such as the Autodesk Construction Cloud.

  • Familiarity with automation tools and techniques to streamline scheduling processes

  • Basic understanding of BIM and its integration with project scheduling

  • Ability to create detailed technical documentation and reports

  • Ability to migrate project schedule into Autodesk Construction Cloud and Navisworks scheduling for project commissioning.


Project Management



  • This role includes the use of a variety of problem solving and Project Management methodologies.

    • Incumbent participates in division-level programs and is a key member of project teams to ensure the successful completion of project objectives while pursuing improvement projects.

    • Manages multiple Design and Continuous Improvement projects and milestones.


  • Key member of cross functional, Global Supply Chain project teams

    • Works on teams of 1-6 people during all stages of the project life cycle.

    • Assists Project Managers in the development of end-date schedules of assigned projects


  • Effective communication and ability to interact with internal customers, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.

  • Adept at problem-solving, finding creative solutions, and adapting schedules based on changing circumstances or constraints (schedule, cost, quality, etc.).

  • Ability to manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and deliver accurate estimates within the required timeframes.

  • Ability to collaborate with other professionals, such as architects, engineers, and contractors. Possess strong teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, share information, and integrate input from various stakeholders.


Engineering Services Consultant



  • Evaluates and assists in the qualifying equipment vendors and contractors minimizing faulty construction, time delays, and lawsuits.

    • Recommends mechanical contractors and equipment vendors for projects


  • Actively participate during peer review of drawings and other technical documentation prepared by incumbent or others to ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and function

  • Advise team on recommendations during project scoping.

  • Identify opportunity areas within S-W Global Supply Chain engineering and operations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS


FORMAL EDUCATION:


Required:



  • BA or BS in Engineering or related field


Preferred:



  • BS Mechanical, Civil or Construction Management

  • PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification or equivalent is preferred


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:


Required:



  • 7 years minimum of related engineering experience

  • Good interpersonal skills, project management, organization, leadership skills, decision making ability, relationship building


Preferred:



  • Experience with Continuous Improvement processes/techniques: lean, transactional lean, root cause analysis, etc.

  • Effective Communication: Ability to convey complex scheduling information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders

  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Strong ability to work with diverse teams and foster a collaborative work environment

  • Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying issues and developing effective solutions

  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing project requirements and timelines

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring accuracy and completeness of schedules


TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:


Required:



  • Experience developing Scope of Work Documents and approve vendor bids packages

  • Autodesk Construction Cloud, P6, MS Project, Procore, RS Means, AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint

  • Project management Certification


Preferred:



  • Certified 6 Sigma Greenbelt
