Job summary

Trane Technologies in Kentucky is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Airside Data Center Computer Room Air Handler (VCDC) Pod. You will provide technical leadership for a cross‑functional team and guide design from bid through manufacturing release, ensuring quality and manufacturability.

You will mentor engineers, support bid processes, BOM development and model generation, and collaborate with manufacturing and field teams to deliver reliable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required with 7–10 years of product design experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• Experience leading projects using PDP or equivalent phase‑gate process.
• Strong problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel up to 10–15% per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of engineers and designers in project deliverables.
• Onboard and train new engineers on tools, standards, processes and project requirements.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance, mentoring and coaching.
• Assist engineers with complex work, problem‑solving and technical decision‑making.
• Review design output for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Establish engineering best practices and quality expectations across the team.
• Coordinate with designers and stakeholders for technical alignment.
• Support bid, submittals, BOM development and model generation.
• Develop and review design content for customer orders and configurations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, quality and product management.
• Support production and field activities by resolving design issues.
