Job summary

The University of Southern California (USC) department of Facilities Planning & Management (FPM) is seeking an Engineer Module C to join its team.

Performs standard engineering procedures, preventive maintenance, and repair of boilers and heating and ventilation systems. Troubleshoots issues, estimates materials, and provides leadership and mentorship to Zone Maintenance Technicians to support quality workmanship and timely completion of assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program.
• Valid CA driver's license with a minimum of 2 years driving experience; DMV Pull Notice System.
• 500 HP License (HSC Engineers) or Unlimited License.
• Familiar with city and state building codes, OSHA rules and regulations, standard safety practices and equipment.
• General knowledge of trade-related methods, materials, tools and equipment.
• Experience performing standard trade-related procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine safety checks on boilers, heating furnaces and all heating and ventilating equipment.
• Maintains clean and safe job site throughout duration and after completion.
• Provides leadership and guidance to others performing similar work; sets priorities and timelines.
• Replaces and adjusts pumps, fans, motors, steam valves, heat exchangers and related equipment per blueprints and diagrams.
• Monitors and maintains emergency generators and related water systems; analyzes water chemistry and adjusts chemical levels.
• Responds to on-call emergencies and documents maintenance activities.
• Inspects exhaust fans, fume hoods, pumps and RO units; installs equipment and fabricates components.
• Estimates materials required for specific job components and prepares reports as needed.
