Job summary

The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a BMS Operator to join the Facilities Planning & Management team. The role focuses on using the building management system (BMS) to monitor and diagnose HVAC systems, coordinate repairs with field technicians, and ensure systems operate within specified parameters.

Responsibilities include monitoring alarms, issuing work orders, generating reports for management, and staying current with new technologies and departmental procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combined education/experience.
  • 1 year of experience in DDC building controls systems.
  • Knowledge of software applications for data collection and report writing.
  • Valid CA driver's license with DMV Pull Notice System; DMV record may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as link between users and system staff to provide effective user service and to provide system and data control.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and respond to alarms, coordinating complex responses to emergencies.
  • Use the BMS to troubleshoot air handlers and chillers; issue work orders as needed.
  • Monitor HVAC control systems and adjust variables to maintain operations within parameters.
  • Provide management with activity reports and recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain system security and user access; train staff on data security and privacy.
