Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) seeks a Building Service Engineer to maintain, service, repair, and inspect HVAC and related systems across campus facilities. The role reports to the FM Engineering Services team and involves working with the Central Plant and decentralized utilities centers.

Responsibilities include operating boilers, chillers, pumps, and control systems, diagnosing issues, and performing emergency repairs as needed.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of journey-level experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler, heating, ventilating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment and systems required.
• Four years of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, repair and inspect heating, air conditioning, water treatment and ventilating equipment (boilers, chillers, condensers, pumps, valves, ducting).
• Test, adjust and calibrate heating and air conditioning machinery and control instruments.
• Maintain and inspect steam, natural gas, water, air and oil distribution systems and perform emergency repairs.
• Periodically adjust air handling equipment to balance airflow, temperature and humidity for rooms or buildings.
• Repair and replace bearings, shafts, seals, rings, and electrical wiring and install parts and pipes.
