Job summary

LifeLine Ambulance in Illinois seeks an EMT Lead Instructor for its EMS academy. You will plan, schedule, and deliver EMT classes under the Director of Education, coordinating guest speakers and tutors to support the program.

The role requires current IDPH EMT-B or Paramedic licensure and Lead Instructor licensure, at least three years as a licensed EMT, and prior teaching experience. AHA BLS Instructor certification is preferred, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• EMT-B or Paramedic licensure required by IDPH.
• IDPH Lead Instructor licensure required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a licensed EMT-B or Paramedic.
• Previous EMT-B or EMT-P teaching experience.
• American Heart Association BLS Instructor Certification preferred.
• Must be personable with good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fluid environment and demonstrate improvisational skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and related areas.
• Keeps a flexible schedule to be available as needed.
• Ability to present information to adult learners in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and instruct EMT classes.
• Arrange guest speakers/instructors/tutors for the program.
• Manage daily class activities and learning environment.
• Monitor student attendance and provide evaluations.
• Maintain records per EMS system, IDPH and NREMT.
• Deliver didactic content and conduct skills development sessions.
• Grade quizzes, tests, and homework assignments.
• Design and use testing instruments.
• Mentor students and instructors.
• Adhere to the course syllabus and develop lesson plans.
• Maintain office hours and participate in department meetings and seminars.
