Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Ashburn, VA, is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer-Embedded Computing Software for Defense Solutions. You will oversee the design, development, enhancement, and testing of complex embedded software for secure DoD applications, lead architecture decisions, and ensure high-quality solutions aligned with product and customer needs.

The role requires 8-12+ years of software development, 5+ years as a project lead, and hands-on work with C/C++, Linux, VxWorks,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field.
• 8-12+ years in software development; 5+ years leading software projects.
• Experience with real-time embedded software and DO-178C/CMMI is preferred.
• Proficiency with C/C++, Linux, VxWorks; scripting in bash/csh; Python; LabVIEW.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and testing of embedded software for defense-grade products.
• Drive architecture decisions, resolve advanced software issues, ensure high quality.
• Collaborate with systems engineering and hardware teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Develop software specifications, participate in bids and proposals, estimate effort.
• Create and maintain design and test documentation and user manuals.
