Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation seeks a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to join our Defense Solutions Group in a remote-capable role. You will oversee architecture, design, development, and testing of embedded software for defense applications, driving high-quality solutions aligned with customer and business needs.

The role requires 8–12+ years in software development, a BS in a technical field, and hands-on expertise with C/C++, Linux, VxWorks, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field.
• 8–12+ years of progressive software development experience, incl. ownership of complex subsystems.
• 5+ years of software project lead experience; strong cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze product plans and generate software specs for new products and enhancements.
• Assist in bids and proposals with labor and material estimates.
• Collaborate with systems/hardware teams to develop sustainable software solutions.
• Design, develop, test embedded software for embedded systems per standards.
• Debug device drivers (Linux/VxWorks) and bootloaders; develop test software and simulations.
• Respond to customer issues; implement software modifications to improve functionality.
