Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Principal Embedded Systems Security Engineer to lead Secure SDLC activities for avionics products at our Cedar Rapids site. You will identify cyber threats, influence architecture, and drive security testing and certification efforts.

The role requires a strong background in embedded security, Python/Java/C/C++, and RMF/DO-326A/DO-356A, with active clearance or ability to obtain one. Relocation support is available.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years experience, or an Advanced Degree and minimum 5 years.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
• Experience in product cybersecurity, embedded software engineering, or secure system design.
• Embedded software engineering knowledge (Python and Java/C/C++).
• Experience analyzing systems and security architectures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as security SME and lead for programs among system and software teams.
• Analyze systems to identify attack vectors and assess risks for products.
• Advise program leaders on include security tech in roadmaps.
• Ensure proper security implementation during development.
• Develop, deploy and automate security tools to identify flaws.
• Characterize vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigations.
• Guide adherence to RMF and DO-326A/DO-356A processes.
• Promote Avionics SSDLC adoption across the organization.
• Contribute to proposals and bids; mentor junior security engineers.
• Participate in cybersecurity industry committees and working groups.
