Job summary

AMD in Austin, Texas is seeking a dynamic Lead / Systems Design Firmware Engineer to develop out-of-band management firmware for our data center GPU products. You will run a team that collaborates across HW, FPGA, and firmware groups to translate complex requirements into robust firmware solutions that drive reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• Strong understanding of HW, firmware, and test development for embedded systems.
• Experience with Python, Bash, C/C++ in Linux environments.
• Able to read and interpret board schematics.
• Familiarity with embedded protocols (I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe, TCP/IP).
• Experience with BMC Out Of Band management and standards like IPMI/Redfish.

Responsibilities

• Implement complex firmware solutions for high-integrated SoCs with embedded processing.
• Define firmware architecture, requirements, and documentation.
• Translate system requirements into firmware requirements.
• Write production-quality C/C++ ensuring quality and on-time delivery.
• Develop strategies to test and verify stand-alone and integrated firmware.
• Create modular/reusable firmware IP for current and future designs.
• Support defect investigations and provide logs for triaging.
