Job summary

AMD Austin is seeking a Diagnostics Software Engineer to own end-to-end quality and coverage for Diagnostics across client, graphics, and embedded platforms. You will study new SoC features, train engineers, and drive test plans while leading pre-silicon emulation strategies.

Ideal candidates have strong firmware/software background, deep Linux programming skills, and experience with BIOS/GPU/PCIe/DDR/PMU/RAS firmware. On-site Austin role with collaboration across global teams.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Significant firmware or software development experience with close interaction with hardware or product engineering teams.
• Strong Linux environment programming knowledge (device drivers, user space, shell scripts, GCC/Clang).
• Experience with BIOS, GPU, PCIe, DDR, PMU, RAS firmware is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end ownership of the quality, coverage and completeness of Diagnostics software solution to AMD Client, Graphics and Embedded.
• Highlight project goals, strategies, risks, and key requirements to help create the software test plan.
• Study new features and IPs in next-gen SoC and train engineers for diagnostic design and development.
• Drive the technical requirements to achieve feature coverage and hardware bug capture targets via diagnostic test cases.
• Own the SoC system-level feature validation methodology, including multi-IP use cases, power/performance evaluation and stress testing.
• Lead diagnostics pre-silicon emulation strategy across Simnow, FPGA and Emulation models and RTL coverage before silicon tape-out.
• Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to achieve program milestones (bring-up, features enablement, performance profiling, production support).
• Proactively improve feature coverage, reduce test time, and drive innovation.
• Lead resolution of critical technical challenges, including root-cause analysis and test coverage enhancements.
