Job summary

Maryland Port Administration (MDOT) is seeking a motivated Electro-Mechanical Crane Technician III for the Crane and Fleet Division. The role focuses on maintaining, inspecting, and repairing cranes and the Passenger Boarding Bridge at MDOT facilities.

Lead a crew of technicians and oversee crane operations to minimize downtime. Requirements include four years of crane-related experience, a valid Class A CDL with HazMat endorsements, and TWIC.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four years of experience maintaining, inspecting and repairing container cranes.
  • Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL with HazMat endorsements.
  • TWIC credential required to access facilities.
  • Candidate should be able to supervise other crane technicians and mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform startup and shutdown of cranes.
  • Complete preventative maintenance including lubrication, oil/filter changes, and hydraulic fluids.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components on cranes and Passenger Boarding Bridge.
  • Make emergency repairs while crane is in operation.
  • Oversee lower-level technicians and coordinate crane operations to minimize downtime.
  • Carry out pier duty and monitor operational breakdowns for rapid diagnostics.
