Job summary

DeKalb County is seeking a lead technician to install, program, maintain, calibrate, and repair electronic instruments and SCADA systems across water and wastewater facilities in the County.

The role requires advanced electronics knowledge, leadership to guide technicians, and experience with telemetry, instrumentation, and control systems. This position is safety sensitive and may involve field work and driver’s license requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics or related field.
• Five years of experience in maintenance and repair of analog and digital industrial control equipment.
• Vocational training and seven years of experience; or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians, provide guidance and training.
• Test processes and controls; recommend SCADA improvements.
• Design and implement new controls; integrate with existing systems.
• Program, install, repair telemetry systems and interfaces.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot instrumentation (pH, conductivity, etc.).
• Install and maintain control devices and instrument loops.
• Perform PLC changes and upgrades; automation tasks.
• Research design of new control systems and automation.
• Perform manual labor tasks related to maintenance.
