Job summary

HDR's Building Engineering Services Group in Louisville, KY is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design critical building infrastructure for data centers and commercial environments. You will lead electrical design efforts, ensure compliance, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality projects.

The role requires a PE license, a decade of experience in building electrical design, and strong AutoCAD and MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with Electrical emphasis.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting, power, systems).
• Professional engineering license recognized in the location of the position offered.
• Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
• Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
• Commitment to being an active participant of the employee‑owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project’s development.
• Establish client relations and participate in meetings regarding electrical systems.
• Act as electrical lead on projects and participate in code compliance reviews.
• Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions with PM, PM/Architect, and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload through the development schedule to complete documents on schedule.
• Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work effort to stay within schedule.
• Collaborate with Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
• Direct other electrical engineering professionals and mentor staff members.
• Perform other duties as needed.
