Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is recruiting for a Distribution Design Engineer focused on managing technical activities such as analyzing service requests, designing and drafting work orders, estimating materials, and maintaining mapping systems.

The role requires a bachelor's in electrical engineering or related discipline with 5+ years' design experience, or an associate's with 7 years, or a high school diploma with 9 years in distribution facilities design.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline with 5+ years' design experience.
Associate's degree in electrical/electronic technology with 7+ years' design experience.
High school diploma or GED with 9+ years' design experience.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to establish a high performing engineering design team.
Maintain close involvement with employees to gather ideas and needs.
Ensure customer satisfaction by aligning work with customer expectations.
Monitor design, materials, and progress to control costs and meet budgets.
Coordinate with departments to maintain accurate distribution system maps.
Develop employee skills and knowledge.
Promote and assure standard compliance.
