Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Engineering Technician in our Substation Protection & Control team. You will support engineers in developing electrical design packages, drawings, and project deliverables for utility and industrial projects, while providing technical leadership and coordinating technician activities.

You will interpret concepts, apply standards, prepare accurate documentation, and mentor junior staff, contributing to successful project execution and continuous improvement across

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, Drafting Technology, or related discipline; or equivalent training or work experience.
• Proficiency with Windows OS, MS Office, and standard business software.
• 8+ years supporting engineering, technical, electrical, or related operations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to learn engineering software and adapt to client requirements.
• Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry in design.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to lead and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineers in preparing electrical design packages and deliverables.
• Prepare and maintain technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Interpret sketches, specifications, and design criteria for project documentation.
• Develop single-line and three-line diagrams and related project documentation.
• Follow drafting and design standards and perform quality reviews of drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and clients to support project execution.
• Mentor junior technicians and drafting staff; lead resource planning across projects.
