Job summary

Insight Global in Anderson, SC is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of electrical switchgear systems for industrial, commercial, and utility applications.

You will independently contribute to product development, create detailed schematics, review drawings for manufacture, and guide junior engineers while ensuring compliance with IEC, ANSI, UL, and IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
• 5–8 years of experience in electrical design in Power (distribution, UPS, switchgear, etc.).
• Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP).
• Strong understanding of industry standards (UL 891/UL 1558).
• PM certification (PMP) or similar is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of electrical switchgear systems, including medium and low voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and control panels.
• Create a BOM list for critical design components.
• Review and approve electrical drawings for manufacture.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics and layout drawings per client specs and budget.
• Oversee integration of switchgear with power distribution and control systems.
