Job summary

Caswell Developmental Center, part of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, seeks an Educational Developmental Assistant to lead instructional trainers in a home setting and deliver targeted activities to maximize independence in self-care, communication, and daily living tasks.

Responsibilities include direct instruction, progress monitoring, documentation, and staff training, with a focus on developing educational objectives and ensuring program success.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred; two years’ experience with developmental disabilities or autism.
• Experience providing educational services to people with developmental disabilities.
• High school diploma or GED with one year of relevant experience acceptable.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems, communicate with team, and follow instructions.
• Strong data collection and progress documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional trainer in a home setting; provide specialized instructional activities.
• Assist teachers in developing objectives and educational activities; monitor progress.
• Maintain accurate documentation of progress and responses to instruction (data).
• Provide feedback and recommendations for ongoing program development and staff training.
• Serve as educational assistant for other tasks as directed by teacher or coordinator.
