Position Summary
The Office of Information Technology ( OIT ) at Winston-SalemState University ( WSSU ) is seeking a Lead Educational Technology& Adoption Specialist to join the team. The LeadEducational Technology & Adoption Specialist serves as theUniversity’s lead resource for educational technology, enterpriseapplication adoption, technology training, and digital innovation.Working collaboratively with academic departments, administrativeoffices, Information Technology staff, and technology vendors, thisposition promotes digital literacy, technology adoption, AIreadiness, classroom technology excellence, student success, andoperational effectiveness throughout the University.
- Lead the University’s educational technology adoption strategyfor faculty, staff, and students.
- Design, develop, coordinate, and deliver instructor-led,hybrid, virtual, and self-paced technology training.
- Develop annual technology training plans, learning pathways,and professional development initiatives.
- Coordinate technology orientations, workshops, webinars, bootcamps, and individual consultations.
- Develop digital literacy initiatives that support teaching,learning, student success, and employee productivity.
- Assess training effectiveness and recommend improvements basedon user feedback, analytics, and institutional priorities.
- Serve as the University’s lead functional resource foreducational technologies including Canvas, Panopto, Adobe CreativeCloud, Microsoft 365, classroom audiovisual systems, collaborationplatforms, and related instructional technologies.
- Provide consultation and training on classroom technologies,active learning environments, lecture capture, and hybrid teachingsolutions.
- Support faculty in integrating educational technologies thatenhance teaching and student engagement.
- Coordinate classroom technology demonstrations, orientations,and best practices.
- Promote accessibility, universal design, and effectivetechnology integration.
- Serve as the functional administrator for assigned educationaltechnology and enterprise applications.
- Coordinate application configuration, user provisioning,testing, documentation, feature releases, and vendorcommunications.
- Participate in enterprise software implementations, upgrades,pilot programs, and technology evaluations.
- Develop functional requirements, user acceptance testing plans,and adoption strategies for new technology solutions.
- Maintain knowledge base documentation, user guides, standardoperating procedures, and support resources.
- Serve as the Office of Information Technology’s lead resourcefor Artificial Intelligence (AI) training, awareness, and useradoption.
- Develop and facilitate AI literacy programs, promptathons,workshops, innovation challenges, and communities of practice forfaculty, staff, and students.
- Create AI training materials, prompt libraries, best practiceguides, and responsible AI resources.
- Monitor emerging educational technologies and AI trends,evaluating opportunities that support teaching, learning, studentsuccess, research, and administrative operations.
- Develop technology communications including newsletters,release notes, announcements, instructional videos, knowledgearticles, and technology awareness campaigns.
- Evaluate relevant emerging technologies that have potentialvalue for teaching and learning.
- Remain current with online learning pedagogy, web conferencingapplications, and associated hardware.
- Serve as the liaison between CITI and the Office of InformationTechnology ( OIT ).

Department Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, InformationTechnology, Information Systems, Instructional Design, ComputerScience, Education, Communications, Business Administration, or arelated discipline
- Four years of progressively responsible experience ineducational technology, enterprise applications, technologytraining, application administration, or technology adoption.
An equivalent combination of education and directly relatedexperience may be considered.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training,Education
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master’s degree in Educational Technology, Information Systems,Higher Education, or related field.
- Experience supporting enterprise educational technologies inhigher education, implementing enterprise software solutions, andmanaging technology adoption initiatives.
- Experience administering Learning Management Systems (Canvaspreferred).
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Panopto, Adobe CreativeCloud, Zoom, and classroom audiovisual technologies.
- Experience developing online learning resources and multimediatraining materials.
- Experience leading cross-functional technology projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional designmethodologies.
- Ability to design, develop, and deliver engaging technologytraining for diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, classroomtechnologies, collaboration platforms, and enterprise productivityapplications.
- Demonstrated understanding of generative AI technologies,prompt engineering, and responsible AI practices.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, and publicspeaking skills.
- Experience developing technical documentation, knowledge bases,instructional videos, and technology communications.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influencetechnology adoption without direct supervisory authority.
- Ability to establish collaborative relationships with faculty,staff, students, vendors, and technical teams.
- Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and recommendinnovative solutions aligned with institutional goals.
