Sentara Health's SMG Cardiology Specialists in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Senior Echocardiographer to perform and interpret advanced echocardiographic studies, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress exams, ensuring high-quality diagnostic information.

The role requires leadership, mentoring of junior staff, scheduling oversight, and active participation in accreditation and quality improvement efforts while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of techniques and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited echocardiography program or equivalent per IAC Guidelines.
• Associate’s Degree.
• 3 years echocardiography experience required.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer.
• Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer OR Advanced Cardiac Sonographer.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform and analyze transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography.
• Collaborate with physicians to provide diagnostic information.
• Mentor junior staff and manage scheduling.
• Maintain knowledge of techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Lead department in accreditation and staff education.
