Job summary

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is seeking a Teacher for the UAH Early Learning Center to lead a developmentally appropriate classroom within an inclusive setting. You will plan activities, document progress, and collaborate with families and staff to support each child’s growth.

Responsibilities include lesson planning, behavior management, teamwork with assistants and interns, and participation in conferences and trainings to advance early childhood education practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Collaborative Education, or a related field.
• Valid (or expired) Teaching Certificate in one of the above fields, or a Master’s Degree in one of the above fields (Teacher level II requirement).
• 1 year of full-time verifiable experience working with young children in a classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead teacher in the classroom; share instructional duties and supervision with assistant.
• Prepare lesson plans based on approved curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice.
• Maintain family communication via calls, email, notes, newsletters, and conferences.
• Document each child’s progress with data records and assessments.
• Manage behavior per school policy and notify director of issues.
• Interact with children to promote language development and independence.
• Promote family-style meals and inclusive practices.
