Lake Superior YMCA in Hermantown, MN seeks a Lead Transition Room Teacher for the Early Childhood Education Center. This full-time role delivers high-quality early childhood education, provides instructional leadership, and supervises assistants in a safe, nurturing setting.

You will develop daily lesson plans, collaborate with staff, engage families, and ensure compliance with licensure requirements while supporting the Y’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Experience as a teacher in a childcare center or related facility.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supervises Assistant Teachers and Teacher Aides.
• Develops and maintains constructive rapport with children and parents.
• Creates fun and educational activities for the children.
• Develops and implements daily lesson plans for children.
• Collaborates with staff to maintain an inviting and nurturing center.
• Delivers reports on concerns about students to management when needed.
• Manages day-to-day classroom activities, including lessons, free play, meals and rest.
• Leads parental/guardian conferences on a regular basis.
• Assists with meals and snacks preparation.
• Reports suspected maltreatment or abuse to authorities.
• Assists students during emergencies and drills.
• Observes and evaluates children's performance and health daily.
• Maintains accurate student records as required by law.
• Completes trainings to meet licensure requirements.
• Fosters an inclusive environment and supports equity and diversity.
• Embodies the Y's values and mission in daily work.
