Job description

  • Research, select, and negotiate pricing with existing and new vendors
  • Assign daily preventative maintenance duties to maintenance staff
  • Issue and receive parts and service maintenance staff at the parts cage window using the J.D. Edwards EAM system
  • Plan, schedule, monitor, adjust/revise, close out, and report on PM, CM, and EM maintenance work orders using JDE CMMS tools
  • Coordinate the Maintenance Crew and Staff throughout the day using two-way radios
  • Provide backup for the Inventory Technician as required
  • Train the maintenance team on standard operating procedures in the parts room
  • Assist the maintenance team with parts research, RFE project invoices and quotes, part kit creation and upkeep, and equipment manuals
  • Manage rebuildable used parts, the rebuild process, and reintegration into inventory
  • Process MRO parts in and out of designated parts bins and the kitting area within a controlled-access parts area
  • Collect and enter completed work orders into the EAM system, complete time entry, and post time card journals
  • Meet with vendors regarding specifications for repairing and ordering manufactured parts
  • Research vendors for quality and price comparisons and negotiate contractor and vendor pricing
  • Assign daily preventative maintenance tasks and maintain the PM log database
  • Provide leadership to the maintenance crew in identifying, selecting, and processing parts and determining job priorities
  • Generate shift-by-shift PM schedules and maintain communication with the Production Scheduler
  • Process work orders by status code for parts checks, order fulfillment, and parts kitting; maintain daily status updates
  • Maintain housekeeping in the parts area and process part disposition promptly
  • Maintain bin allocation, including adding new parts, removing obsolete parts, and changing bin locations
  • Check receiving areas, match shipments against packing slips, document disposition, and process receipts
  • Put away newly received and returned parts, record transactions in EAM, and correct issued parts on work orders
  • Process returned parts for vendor return, rebuild, or disposal
  • Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, excessive, stockout, and destination-less inventory
  • Review inventory systems monthly for effectiveness, inefficiencies, waste, confusion, and service improvements; provide summary reports and recommendations
  • Follow Food Safety policies, procedures, regulatory criteria, current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, FSMA, and associated Preventive Controls
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Associate degree preferred
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience working in a maintenance shop or running a parts inventory in an automotive, manufacturing, or distributorship-type inventory storeroom
  • 1 or more years of using a computerized inventory system preferred, with knowledge of parts usage and relative value
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of J.D. Edwards EAM and AS400, or willingness to learn
  • Fundamental knowledge of inventory control and parts management
  • Applied knowledge of computerized inventory control systems preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills and applied understanding of mathematics
  • Ability to follow instructions and enforce strict security rules
  • Willingness to work the time needed to keep the parts room in order
  • Willingness to acquire further education and training at qualified, accredited seminars, workshops, and institutions
  • Ability to meet physical demands including intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • Occasional ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance
  • Willingness and ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Willingness to work typical 8–12-hour shifts, including additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends as required
