Job summary

X4 Engineering is seeking an experienced E&I Designer in Houston, TX to lead electrical, instrumentation and controls design on major capital projects, from concept through construction support. The role is office-based with occasional site visits.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of industrial E&I design experience, strong knowledge of NEC, and hands-on experience with P&IDs, loop drawings, and control panel layouts. Associate degree in industrial technology or equivalent required.

Qualifications

• Requires 5+ years of industrial E&I design experience on process plant instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC requirements and standards.
• Solid design skills including conduit/cable sizing, voltage drop, cable tray sizing, and motor control schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead E&I design on capital projects and produce complete, accurate deliverables to scope.
• Design MV and LV power distribution, controls, control system wiring, lighting and heat tracing.
• Develop instrumentation installation details, location plans and control panel layouts.
• Check designs and deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
• Support the construction team on E&I throughout the project.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to keep projects moving.
