Job summary

Advocates for Life Skills & Opportunity Inc. (ALSO) in Portland, Oregon seeks a Lead Direct Support Professional to guide 1:1 and small-team supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

As Lead DSP, you will train new staff, model person-centered practices, and collaborate with the Services Manager to promote independence, wellness, and community integration. We offer growth opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Flexibility to cover day, swing, and graveyard shifts.
• Clear, effective communication with teams and families.
• Commitment to inclusion, autonomy, and best interests.

Responsibilities

• Relationship building with people receiving services and coverage when needed.
• Train new Direct Support Professionals on essential job duties and person-centered support practices.
• Ensure proper documentation (MAR, ISP data) is maintained to meet compliance.
• Provide direct support including hygiene and medical tasks as needed, skills training, and daily living tasks.
• Serve as proxy for Service Managers during absences and support team leadership.
