Job summary

Alpha Omega Consulting Inc. is seeking a Lead Direct Support Professional (Lead DSP) to mentor DSP staff and provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential and community settings.

The role combines hands-on care with leadership duties to ensure high-quality services, a positive home environment, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass screenings are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to coach and support coworkers in a positive, professional manner.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to complete required background screenings, registry reviews, and trainings.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or obtainable.
• Ability to assist individuals with daily living activities and participate in community-based services.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals in residential and community settings.
• Mentor and coach DSP staff through training and ongoing support.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
• Ensure documentation is completed accurately and timely.
• Monitor the home environment for health, safety, cleanliness and quality of care.
• Communicate operational and staffing concerns to leadership.
• Assist with medication administration when trained and authorized.
• Support ISPs, behavioral strategies, and personal outcomes.
• Coordinate community activities promoting independence and participation.
• Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and operational needs.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and person-centered care.
