Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking a Direct Support Professional - Lead Float to support individuals in achieving lifelong goals and strengthening their natural supports. You will advocate for clients in medical and community settings, assist with daily living tasks, and participate in activities including driving and possible overnight trips.

You will complete documentation, attend trainings, and collaborate with a team to ensure safe, respectful, and person-centered care.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable populations required.
• Experience and/or training of at least one year with individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Medication administration training required (may be obtained after hire).
• First Aid training required, and CPR certificate may be required (may be obtained after hire).
• Mental Health certification may be required (may be obtained after hire).
• Bureau of Criminal Affairs background study clearance required.
• Driver's license required.
• MVR with a satisfactory driving record required.
• Ability to read, write, and use computer required.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to recognize boundaries.
• Ability to suggest and implement strategies to enhance the service.
• Patience, self-control, and flexibility.
• Computer skills that support Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to individuals to develop, renew, and maintain their natural support network.
• Advocate for individuals in medical care and community settings.
• Assist with activities of daily living including meal preparation, hygiene, medication administration, cleaning, and laundry.
• Participate in events and activities, including driving and potentially overnight trips.
• Complete documentation and record keeping; attend required trainings and meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
