Position Summary

The Lead Driver is responsible for all CDL driving needs (28’ dry Vans, primarily hauling doubles) and additional responsibilities related to fleet management, load quality, and inspection. This role serves as the site’s independent point of contact for logistics, managing daily/weekly tasks to ensure success. The weekly schedule is a minimum of 40 hours, mainly Monday-Friday, with approximately 80% driving and 20% other activities such as plant operations and asset inspection. Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate logistics activities to ensure efficiency and customer service standards.
• Handle truck/trailer repairs, cleanliness, and scheduling.
• Operate as a Class A CDL driver, hauling dry van trailers at client locations.
• Potentially perform additional hauling tasks like End Dump and Tanker in the future.
• Inspect loads and ensure proper cleaning and repair of bins and trailers.
• Work with third-party logistics providers for coverage and support.
• Implement safety practices and logistics procedures, collaborating with site personnel.
• Lead maintenance and repairs of assets, including driver training and certification.
• Manage daily dispatching, backhauling, and trailer movements to optimize operations.
• Maintain vehicle condition and manage routes for efficiency.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Class A CDL required.
• At least 3 years of driving experience.
• Mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting and basic repairs.
• Experience with transportation operations, tanker, and doubles hauling endorsements.
• Willingness to perform overnight and miscellaneous duties outside driving.
