Job summary

SSI People in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Staff Distribution Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of overhead and underground distribution projects from 2.4kV to 34.5kV. You will produce high-quality design packages, perform calculations (voltage drop, cable pulling, pole loading), and provide field insights that support reliable project execution.

ABET-accredited engineering degree required; FE/EIT preferred.

Qualifications

3+ years of electrical utility distribution engineering experience.
Experience designing overhead and underground distribution systems (2.4kV-34.5kV).
Ability to prepare design packages, cost estimates, and BOMs.
Experience performing cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
Knowledge of NESC, utility standards, and power flow concepts.

Responsibilities

Develop distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects.
Produce design sketches, BOMs, cost estimates, and other deliverables.
Perform cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
Conduct field inspections and prepare project communications on vegetation, ROW, outages, and client briefs.
