Job summary

ABET-accredited engineering degree required; FE/EIT preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical utility distribution engineering experience.
• Experience designing overhead and underground distribution systems (2.4kV-34.5kV).
• Ability to prepare design packages, cost estimates, and BOMs.
• Experience performing cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
• Knowledge of NESC, utility standards, and power flow concepts.

Job Title: Staff Distribution Engineer

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico (On-Site)

Job Summary: We are supporting a search for a Staff Distribution Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of overhead and underground utility distribution projects spanning 2.4kV-34.5kV. Our team is seeking a detail-oriented professional who can help produce high-quality design packages, technical calculations, and field-based insights that support reliable project execution.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects, including equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
• Produce design sketches, cost estimates, bills of materials, and other required project deliverables.
• Perform distribution calculations such as cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading, while applying knowledge of NESC standards and utility procedures.
• Conduct field inspections and prepare project communications related to vegetation management, third-party attachments, right-of-way, outage planning, reports, and client presentations.

Required

• 3+ years of experience in electrical utility distribution engineering.
• Experience designing overhead and underground distribution systems (2.4kV-34.5kV).
• Ability to prepare design packages, cost estimates, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Experience performing cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
• Knowledge of NESC, utility standards, and electrical distribution power flow.
• Proficiency with distribution design software, GIS, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience conducting field inspections and supporting project execution.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• ABET-accredited Engineering degree required (FE/EIT preferred).
