Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Metairie, LA is seeking a distribution design engineer to lead project teams in overhead and underground distribution design (4 kV–34 kV). You will review construction sketches, perform short circuit/voltage drop calculations, and create BOMs and cost estimates.

The ideal candidate holds an ABET-accredited engineering degree and has 5+ years in electric utility distribution; PLS CADD is a plus.

Qualifications

• Essential: ABET-accredited engineering degree.
• 5+ years of experience in electric utility distribution or equivalent review experience.
• Knowledge of distribution design methods and applicable codes and standards (NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE).
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead a project team.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering/design work on distribution projects (overhead and underground 4 kV–34 kV).
• Prepare/review construction sketches and details; perform short circuit and voltage drop calculations; develop BOM and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with client representatives and project teams; participate in design reviews and hazard analyses.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for reviews and field verification; support relocation when needed.
