Job summary

Gesher Human Services in Detroit, MI is seeking a Lead Direct Support Professional/CI to mentor Direct Support Professionals, guide day-to-day activities, and promote independence for individuals with disabilities.

This full-time, non-exempt position offers an hourly salary range of $18.13–$22.50 with benefits accompanying community inclusion work. The role includes planning, supervising and coordinating activities, training staff, and ensuring participant safety across sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required; two years of college preferred.
• 21+ years of age.
• Criminal background must meet funding source requirements.
• Reliable transportation and valid Michigan driver's license; driving record acceptable.
• Complete CPR, First Aid and Recipient Rights trainings.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication with participants and staff.
• Basic computer skills; comfortable with agency systems.
• Fluency in American Sign Language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise activities promoting a healthy, active and socially integrated lifestyle for people with disabilities at home, recreation settings, and job sites.
• Assist participants with personal care, hygiene and mobility.
• Provide support and training based on goals in service plans.
• Supervise and maintain the safety of participants.
• Transport participants using Agency van or own vehicle.
• Complete daily reports and respond to email using Agency computers.
• Assist in developing and distributing staff and participant schedules.
• Provide training to other staff; cross-trained for multiple sites.
• Serve on Agency committees as appointed.
