Job summary

Gesher Human Services in Detroit, MI is seeking a Direct Support Professional (CI) to support individuals with disabilities in work, recreation, volunteering, and daily living activities in community and facility settings. The role promotes independence, safety, and social inclusion through direct assistance, skill-building, and encouragement aligned with each person’s service plan.

You will help participants with employment, personal care, transportation, and access to health and well-being,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required; two years of college preferred.
• 21+ years of age.
• Criminal background must meet funding source requirements.
• Reliable transportation and valid Michigan driver's license.
• CPR, First Aid and Recipient Rights trainings completed.
• Strong communication with participants and staff.
• Basic computer skills; ASL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and supervise activities promoting healthy, active, socially integrated living.
• Assist participants with employment, daily living, personal care and mobility.
• Oversee administration and documentation of medication as assigned.
• Provide support and training based on goals in service plans.
• Supervise and maintain safety of participants.
• Transport participants using Agency van.
• Complete trainings, daily reports and respond to email using Agency computers.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.
