Resources for Human Development is seeking a Direct Support Professional Lead in Delaware to provide hands-on care and leadership within residential services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The role combines direct care with leadership duties, mentoring Direct Support Professionals, delivering on-site training, and ensuring compliance in a safe, therapeutic, and person-centered home environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with individuals with IDD or behavioral health challenges.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Able to pass background check and drug screening.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong judgment, problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
• Basic computer skills including email, Microsoft Office, electronic documentation, and time-recording applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site behavioral health and direct care services to individuals in residential settings.
• Assist with personal care, daily living activities, meals, housekeeping, recreation, transportation, and medical appointments.
• Supervise and guide staff to develop skills, independence, and quality of life.
• Mentor DSPs and provide on-site training and guidance.
• Collaborate with Residential Manager on policy, regulatory, training, and compliance.
• Maintain regular communication with the Residential Manager and support team.
• Ensure daily documentation is completed accurately per standards.
• Review medication records, ISPs, and daily checklists.
• Help ensure appropriate staffing levels and staff-to-individual ratios.
• Coordinate medical appointments, prescriptions, and related docs.
• Monitor crisis situations and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Advocate for individuals and liaison with community resources.
• Provide trauma-informed and person-centered care.
• Ensure services comply with safety standards, regulations, and policies.
