Job summary

Vanguard Truck Centers is seeking diesel technicians to diagnose, repair, and service diesel trucks and equipment across our network. You will work with parts, service advisors, and fellow technicians to complete repairs efficiently and to factory standards.

We value safety, team collaboration, and ongoing training. Prior experience and a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a CDL are preferred; base tools are required within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in diesel repair.
• Ability to work with a team and follow safety procedures.
• Willingness to participate in required training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs diesel trucks or equipment per repair orders.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness of the shop area and equipment.
• Documents all work performed on the repair order.
• Road tests vehicles when required and coordinates with service advisor.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs.

Our unique footprint allows us to provide a diverse range of products and services across many industries, and across the country.RESPONSIBILITIES for Diesel TechniciansDiesel Technicians performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair on diesel Trucks or equipment.Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.Diesel Technician will documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.Diesel Technician will participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.Supervises work of any apprentice diesel technicians as assigned.Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.Keeps shop area neat and clean for your safety and safety of other diesel technicians.Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
