Job summary

Vanguard Truck Centers LLC in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose and repair diesel trucks per OEM standards. You will communicate with parts, document work, and road-test when required while maintaining a clean, safe shop and supporting junior technicians.

A high school diploma or tech training is preferred; 1–2 years of mechanical experience helps. A valid driver’s license with the possibility to obtain a CDL is required, and you’ll bring your own base tools within 30 days

Qualifications

  • Experience with diesel engines or diesel truck repair preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow OEM and dealership standards.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel trucks per repair orders.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain parts.
  • Explain additional work if required and update repair orders.
  • Road test vehicles when required.
  • Participate in manufacturer training programs.
  • Keep tools and workspace organized and safe.
  • Supervise apprentices as assigned.

Our unique footprint allows us to provide a diverse range of products and services across many industries, and across the country.RESPONSIBILITIES for Diesel TechniciansDiesel Technicians performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair on diesel Trucks or equipment.Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.Diesel Technician will documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.Diesel Technician will participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.Supervises work of any apprentice diesel technicians as assigned.Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.Keeps shop area neat and clean for your safety and safety of other diesel technicians.Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
