Job summary

Vanguard Truck Centers LLC seeks a Diesel Technician to diagnose and repair diesel trucks and equipment, coordinating with parts and service advisors. You will ensure safety, maintain detailed repair orders, and participate in ongoing manufacturer training.

Responsibilities include road testing, mentoring apprentices, and staying current with technical bulletins, while keeping the shop, tools, and paperwork in order to meet promised timelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred or completion of vocational/ technical school.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with experience preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver license with the ability to obtain CDL license.
  • Must have base required tools or obtain within 30 days.
  • Major tooling provided in house.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair on diesel Trucks or equipment.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Diesel Technician will communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Diesel Technician will documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
  • Diesel Technician will participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises work of any apprentice diesel technicians as assigned.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean.
  • Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean for your safety and safety of other diesel technicians.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all facility tools and manuals.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
