Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (e.g., adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and oil, temperature, gas regulating components; adjust/test/rebuild engines) within qualification level, following all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines. Conduct test drives to ensure repairs resolve the issues.
  2. Arrange for and obtain inspections and approvals for all major repairs before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
  3. Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area in compliance with all relevant guidelines and requirements.
  4. Identify and report additional maintenance or repairs needed, including those requiring higher qualification level technicians.
  5. Record time spent, parts used, and repairs conducted on appropriate forms.
  6. Advise Maintenance Supervisor of unsafe conditions or vehicle abuse.
  7. Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  8. Exhibit high ethical standards and personal integrity; report suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisors.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. Minimum of five years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience plus one to two years of supervisory experience or training.
  2. Diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are essential.
  3. Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment required.
  4. Experience with fleet vehicles and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems.
  5. Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
  6. Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  7. Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred). Company offers free training for mechanics.
