Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in technician position with diesel/gasoline equipment.
  • Knowledge of heavy truck systems: suspensions, engines, brakes, hydraulics.

Responsibilities

  • Repair trucks, forklifts, and mechanical equipment with proficiency.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on-site and on the road.

Job description

Description

Our Jaffrey headquarters is looking for a Mechanic - Diesel Specialist.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for repair of trucks, forklifts and other mechanical equipment.
  2. Maintains a working knowledge of, and moderate skill proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform preventative and repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road.
  3. Chassis component repair and maintenance, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic braking systems, engine repair and maintenance, suspension, drivetrain and steering systems, heating and air conditioning.
  4. Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication.
  5. Coordination and scheduling of annual vehicle inspections (we will certify you).
  6. Install and replace GPS units as needed.
  7. Learn to utilize Geotab for service and repair record keeping, etc.
  8. Safely provides road service when necessary to ensure that the Company’s equipment is returned to operation in a safe and efficient manner.
  9. Identify the source of the malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools and knowledge.
  10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent including keeping the shop and work area clean.
  11. Keep a daily log of work performed.
  12. Able to lift 70+ pounds.
  13. Able to drive long distances (2+ hours).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Prior experience with, or knowledge of, maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks.
  2. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
  3. A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
  4. Truck repair school or military vehicle repair school is a plus, but not required.
  5. Valid Driver’s License.
  6. Ability to pass a physical test and obtain a DOT medical card.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
  2. Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems: suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions.
