Patriot Disposal Services in Chambersburg, PA is seeking a Mechanic to lead maintenance on diesel-powered waste management trucks and heavy equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet including rear-load, front-load, and roll-off trucks, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications include a diesel mechanic background, familiarity with diesel engines, hydraulics, electricals, and air brake systems, plus CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience: working as a diesel mechanic, preferably with waste management, heavy equipment, or truck fleets preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brake systems; ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
• Tools and Equipment: using diagnostic tools, mechanical hand tools, and power tools to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Certifications: CDL is a plus.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
• Physical Requirements: lift up to 70 lbs; work in varying weather and tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform diagnostic tests, maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered waste management trucks and heavy equipment, including rear-load, front-load, and roll-off trucks.
• Preventive Care: Routine inspections and preventive maintenance, engine checks, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire replacements.
• Repairs and Replacements: Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; replace worn or damaged parts such as brakes, engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and air systems.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety standards, environmental regulations, and company protocols.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, hours, parts used, and services performed.
• Team Collaboration: Work with other mechanics and supervisors to prioritize repairs and manage fleet maintenance.
