Job summary

Patriot Disposal Services is seeking a proactive Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Chambersburg, PA. You will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered waste trucks and heavy equipment, ensuring high reliability and safety.

The role requires hands-on problem solving and strong collaboration with fleet supervisors. The ideal candidate has diesel mechanics experience, familiarity with hydraulic/electrical systems, and the ability to lift up to 70 lbs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; diesel mechanic training preferred.
Experience as a diesel mechanic, ideally with waste management or heavy equipment.
Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and air brake systems.
CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus.
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic tests, maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered waste trucks and heavy equipment.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance, including engine checks and fluid changes.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; replace worn parts such as brakes, engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and air systems.
Ensure repairs comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
Maintain accurate records of parts used, hours worked, and services performed.
Collaborate with teammates to prioritize repairs and manage fleet maintenance schedule.
