Job summary

Patriot Disposal / Apple Valley Waste in Egg Harbor Township, NJ is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to lead from the front, maintaining diesel-powered refuse trucks and heavy equipment to keep the fleet running smoothly.

You will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs, uphold safety standards, and document services while coordinating with a team for efficient scheduling. A CDL is a plus and diesel expertise is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in waste management, heavy equipment, or truck fleets.
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electronics and air brake systems.
• Proficient using diagnostic tools and various hand/power tools.
• CDL is a plus; HS diploma or equivalent required; additional diesel training preferred.
• Able to lift up to 70 lbs; comfortable working in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered refuse trucks and heavy equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to keep fleet at peak efficiency.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; replace worn or damaged parts.
• Ensure repairs comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records and collaborate with teammates and supervisors.
