Job summary

Clean Harbors Edwardsville, IL is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to supervise day-to-day shop operations, oversee maintenance work, and ensure DOT compliance for the fleet. The role involves maintaining service and parts records, performing preventative maintenance, and leading a safety-focused team on all heavy equipment.

The ideal candidate has extensive diesel engine experience, DOT inspection know-how, and strong diagnostics skills.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of diesel engine experience.
• 1+ years DOT inspection experience required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work in team environment.
• Must be versed in electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, engines etc.
• Proficiency in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy units (forklifts, roll-off trucks, forklifts, pickups, box trucks, tractors, tankers).
• Proficiency in tooling and equipment diagnostics/maintenance.
• Ability to pass background, drug, and physical test upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day shop operations and supervise maintenance work.
• Ensure fleet DOT compliance and maintain service/parts records.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections; respond to offsite service calls as needed.
• Complete daily checklists and ensure proper operation of units.
• Communicate issues promptly and maintain clean work environment.
• Maintain compliance with Health and Safety SOPs and procedures.
• Support management with other assignments as directed.
