Job summary

Clean Harbors Cleveland, OH is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to supervise shop operations, ensure DOT compliance, and maintain service/parts records. The role emphasizes safety, hands-on maintenance, and coordination with management to keep equipment running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of diesel experience, DOT inspection know-how, a valid license, and strong diagnostic skills across electrical, ECMs, fuel, and hydraulics. Growth opportunities and company benefits are included.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of diesel engine experience required.
• 1+ year DOT inspection experience required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Proficient with electrical, ECMs, fuel, air, ABS and hydraulic systems.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (forklifts, trucks, tractors).

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety and follow all safe work practices.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshoot and repair.
• Complete daily unit checklists.
• Ensure daily maintenance tasks are done and report issues immediately.
• Submit paperwork for PM schedules.
• Conduct safety checks and annual vehicle inspections per laws.
• Ensure equipment is parked per permit and DOT rules.
• Meet Health and Safety SOPs.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Take on tasks assigned by management.
• Understand Clean Compliance Standard.
