Job summary

Patriot Disposal is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. You will maintain and repair diesel-powered waste collection trucks and heavy equipment, performing diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure peak efficiency and uptime.

You will work with a collaborative team to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, replace worn parts, and uphold safety and environmental standards while contributing to reliable community service.

Qualifications

• Experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with waste management, heavy equipment, or truck fleets.
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and air brake systems; ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Experience using diagnostic tools, mechanical hand tools, and power tools for repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle maintenance: diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment.
• Preventive care: engine checks, fluid changes, brake adjustments, tire replacements.
• Repairs and replacements: troubleshoot issues and replace worn parts (brakes, engines, hydraulics, transmissions, air systems).
• Safety compliance: follow safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Documentation: keep accurate maintenance records (parts, hours, services).
• Team collaboration: coordinate with other mechanics and supervisors to manage fleet schedule.
