Job summary

Black Canyon Consulting’s National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) team seeks a Lead OperationsSupport Engineer to guide DevOps and infrastructure efforts, supporting internal developers and operations at NIH. This is a full-time role with remote options, based in the Bethesda, MD area.

This position offers remote options and on-site opportunities, with responsibilities spanning platform operations, incident response, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• BS degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting DevOps platforms and infrastructure.
• Strong Linux and networking fundamentals.
• Proficiency in scripting languages.
• Ability to lead a team and train members.
• Excellent communication with developers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform operations team for NCBI DevOps platform.
• Identify and resolve operational problems in a micro-service environment.
• Collaborate with developers to resolve deployment and runtime issues.
• Perform analysis and debugging across multiple technologies.
• Prioritize issues to meet SLOs and error budgets.
• Document processes and SOPs with the team.
• Prepare postmortems and action items to minimize outages.
• Interview and help hire new team members.
• Train new team members and provide on-call support.
• Provide on-call support to NCBI’s internal developers and staff.
