Job summary

Black Canyon Consulting, partnering with NIH-NCBI, seeks a Program Principal Engineer to steer architecture and delivery for bioinformatics software. You will lead Technical Leads and engineering teams, setting direction and ensuring scalable, reliable solutions from concept through production operations.

You'll collaborate with program leadership, scientists, and developers to translate genomic data needs into robust software, mentor staff, and promote best practices that deliver impactful

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Experience managing an Agile software development team.
• Experience with highly available, high-traffic web applications.
• Ability to translate business requirements into executable software tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the program’s software development team in an Agile framework.
• Collaborate with scientists and developers to implement bioinformatics algorithms.
• Provide work estimates for development tasks.
• Ensure on-schedule delivery of software solutions for the product line.
• Direct and coordinate the actions of the development team.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team.
• Liaise between the development team and program leadership.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for the product line.
• Ensure high code quality for software development tasks.
